BOISE FOOTHILLS MOUNTAIN BIKING TRAILS

BEGINNER FAVORITES

Ridgecrest > Central Ridge > Bucktail Loop - This beginner Boise foothills trail starts at the Cottonwood trailhead at the Boise Military Reserve (just up the road from the Boise Bike Park). It has great views of downtown Boise and is a fun loop for all skill levels. It’s kid friendly!

Owl’s roost > Red Fox Loop – This is another excellent Boise foothills loop for all levels. It starts at Camel’s Back Park, goes through trees and tall grass until it connects to Hulls Gulch, where you will find Red Fox trail. From there you can head back down.

Trails at Eagle Bike Park – Eagle Bike Park is an amazing resource for bikers of all ages and skills. There is everything from beginner trails and pump tracks, to expert level freeride and downhill trails.

INTERMEDIATE FAVORITES

Owl’s Roost > Kestrel > Crestline > Hulls Gulch – This is a 7-8-mile loop and is very fun! Hulls Gulch is one of the best trails to ride down in the area. It is a very popular Boise foothills trail so yield to hikers, runners, and people riding uphill.

Shane’s Trail > 3 Bears Loop – Another great loop starting at the Military Reserve and offering beautiful back country views, challenging climbs, and a fun single track downhill.

Around the Mountain Trail (ATM) – This trail starts from the Bogus Basin parking lot and is a 10-mile loop around Shaffer Butte. It’s a beautiful trail through trees and has views of the Treasure Valley & if it’s clear you can see the Sawtooth Mountains in the distance.

ADVANCED FAVORITES

Boise Foothills Biking Trails Shingle Creek > Dry Creek Loop – This is a challenging, but beautiful, climb up shingle creek trail that starts in the lower foothills and climbs up into the pines. It connects to Dry Creek and is one of the most fun downhill trails in the area.

Bogus Basin to the Valley (Shuttle Options) – You can pay for a shuttle or self-shuttle from Pioneer Lodge at Bogus Basin, ride down one of their great downhill trails and then there are a couple options to ride all the way down to the city. You can do East Side to Sweet Connie on one side, or Around the Mountain to Mahalo to Dry Creek on the other. Both end up being over 20 miles and still require a fair amount of climbing.

BOISE FOOTHILLS HIKING TRAILS

5 Mile Gulch – This Boise foothills trail is located off a dirt road (10 minutes from downtown). With creek crossings and trees, it's a fun, adventurous, and scenic hike for all ages!

Table Rock – This popular hike takes you to an overlook of downtown and the whole Treasure Valley. It has some steeper inclines but is pretty short. Little ones can make it to the top, though we suggest the motivation of lots of snacks, water, and occasional breaks.

Brewers Byway – This trail can be accessed from Pioneer Lodge at Bogus Basin. It's a beautiful hike through the pines with a mild incline and great views! This trail is great for all ages and experience levels!
