About Southeast Boise
Southeast Boise is one of the city's most established and desirable residential areas, offering convenient access to Downtown Boise, Boise State University, the Boise River, the Boise Airport, and Micron Technology. Primarily located within the 83706 zip code and portions of 83716, Southeast Boise extends south of the Boise River from Boise State University to Interstate 84 and east toward Micron and Highway 21.
Much of the area was developed between the 1970s and early 2000s, creating neighborhoods known for mature trees, established landscaping, and a welcoming residential feel. Because much of Southeast Boise is already built out, the area has experienced less rapid growth than many parts of the Treasure Valley, helping it maintain a quieter atmosphere and generally lighter traffic than some of the region's faster-growing communities. Residents enjoy easy access to the Boise River Greenbelt, community parks, and a variety of housing options ranging from townhomes and ranch-style homes to more upscale properties in premier riverfront communities.
While there are occasional opportunities to purchase new construction on infill lots closer to downtown, most new home development in Southeast Boise is occurring in the eastern portion of the area near Micron. Buyers looking for newer homes will also find additional opportunities in Harris Ranch and Barber Valley, located just north of the Boise River. For more information on homes in those communities, be sure to visit our Northeast Boise Homes for Sale page.
